Supremely Slow and Mediocre,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lord of The Rings (Based on the 50th Anniversary Single volume edition 2004) (Paperback)
Lord of the Rings is a book that I have attempted to read many times, but have notyet succeded in doing so. The reason why I keep returning is what seems to be almost universal acclaim for what must be THE epic of the fantasy genre. The reason why I find this book to be un-interesting I think is due to Tolkien's simplistic approach. I also appreciate that the story line of such a lengthy book will not neccesarily move quickly, but if this is to be the case then some descriptive ingenuity must surely be applied. A book destined to prop up that wonky bookcase, read "Magician" by Raymond E Feist instead.

oh but I DID read Raymond Feist works and those are pretty dull and very very simple books.
