This review is from: Virgin Widow (Paperback)
A thoroughly enjoyable book, that really took me into the King's Court and what went on there; a dangerous world too.
Anne O'Brien takes us there, showing us all the uncertainties and mistrust that an eight year girl had to tolerate, the devious planning of her marriage at the tender age of fourteen and what happens to her dysfunctional family; their scramble to protect the family name, lands and inheritance.
Add to that a love story of Richard and Anne and you have a spellbinding story.
At 600 pages, this first novel - fiction based on fact - is a worthy read. I highly recommend it.
