This review is from: Doctor Sleep: Shining Book 2 (The Shining) (Kindle Edition)
Bought this as I very much anticipated the sequel to The Shining - I have waited so long for it so hoped it would be really good and scary.
Sadly, this is not scary whatsoever although the characters are quite well developed.
We follow Danny Torrence as an adult, bearing the burden of having 'the shining' psychic powers, some of his dad's addiction issues and still has dealings with some of the ghost characters from the previous book.
It starts out with potential as we see Danny being haunted by dead people but then it turns into a story whereby some strange people called the True Knot pursue children with The Shining and kill them to become more powerful. Danny connects with one of these children and helps defeat the True.
We never really get to know any of the True Knot or find out what they are. There is no climax at the end - I never felt the protagonists were in any danger. There was no creepiness of the previous book.
