This review is from: The Firm [DVD] [2009] (DVD)
"The Firm" is the latest in a long line of films about football hooliganism. This film is set back in the halcyon days of the 1980's when football thuggery was rampant and the gangs' wore brightly coloured sportswear manufactured by designer labels such as Ellesse,Tacchini and Fila."The Firm" is similar to the likes of "Green Street", The Football Factory" etc. in that it is about a mild mannered young man who gets involved with a gang of violent thugs after falling under the sway of their charismatic leader.A series of riots and skirmishes ensue followed by a dramatic finale featuring the two top mobs. The young man has to decide whether to become a fully fledged violent thug or not. I found the film to be gripping and entertaining and it was well filmed and directed. The only thing I didn't really like was the rather irritating and often baffling patois used by the characters during much of the film. "The Firm" is a decent enough film , but not a particularly original one.

Football violence is nothing compared to the sort of violence we're used to in Northern Ireland !
