This review is from: Etudes (Audio CD)
There are many famous versions of the Chopin Etudes, yet I think this little known recording is the best of the lot. Juana Zayas seems to have everything the music requires - power, finesse and an extraordinary ability to clarify inner voices. Included are two versions - one from 1983 and one from 2005. The earlier one is the better of the two in my opinion, and quite possibly the best overall. Give this a go and it might make you forget about Perahia, Pollini, Ashkenazy or any other more famous Etude pianists.
