This review is from: The Road Home (Kindle Edition)Michael Thomas Ford is a classier author of gay novels, compared to the writers who churn the stuff out. His characters are distinctive, their actions and thoughts are believable and when it comes to plotting, there's less chance that you'll guess what's coming.
This is not the best of his books, though. The story moves at a statesmanlike pace; a bit too slowly for my liking. The father/son angst is underlined several times, probably excessively. In fact, all the characters have obvious relationship problems as well as anxiety about love (in all its forms) between the generations.
I rather enjoyed the sudden chill when spooky goings-on materialised. But then the story gets a bit obsessed with religion/mumbo jumbo nonsense. All very American. I found found myself skimming large sections in the hope it would all get back to reality.
