2.0 out of 5 stars Would have been one-star except for scenery including Loren, 4 Nov. 2012

This review is from: The Cassandra Crossing [DVD] [1977] (DVD)
Help! This was the second of two 'mindless' movies I ordered, and like the first one (The Spiral Staircase) I gave up half way through.

In fact, with this turkey I turned off even earlier - at the point where Ernest Borgnine (uncredited - that was a bright move, Ernie) grins inanely at a fresh-faced group of flower-power guitar twangers as they accompany a singing blonde in a railway carriage. I was immediately transported back to that scene in Airplane! where the sick kiddie is being serenaded and her air supply is accidentally cut off.

Interesting how with movies as bad as these you can sense that the actors realise just how lousy the film is going to be - it is as if they are having to bite their lips to avoid laughing at the lines.

Bongolia says:
Ernest Borgnine isn't in this movie. Anywhere. That's Lionel Stander ('Max' in 'Hart To Hart') who looks in on the kids singing. How can you comment on a movie you spent five minutes watching? While the beginning isn't full of Oscar-worthy performances the movie picks up considerably once the train starts moving. You didn't even give the story a chance to get going.
Also, 'The Spiral Staircase' is an excellent classic. It's worth watching for the atmosphere alone.
