This review is from: Prague Fatale: Bernie Gunther Thriller 8 (Bernie Gunther Mystery 8) (Paperback)
I always approach a Gunther novel with eager anticipation and in most cases I am rarely disappointed. This one is a bit of an oddity as it starts in conventional Gunther territory but then Kerr has decided to try out a locked door murder mystery with the move to Prague. This tends to slow down the pace of the book for quite a while and at the same time introduces a large cast of possible suspects who are quite difficult to follow. However the pace fortunately picks up towards the end and all the various strands are very neatly pulled together. So on the whole a reasonably satisfying read and undoubtedly one for the purists but a newcomer to Kerr (and I have absolutely no hesitation is recommending these novels)should probably start with Berlin Noir.
