Cropped picture - AVOID,
This review is from: Buried [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)Thought that the days of pan'n'scan transfers were over now we have DVD and blu-ray instead of VHS? Wrong. This blu-ray transfer has the original 2.35:1 picture cropped down to 16:9. And this for a film that relies more than most on tight precise framing. Icon Pictures have apparently said that the 16:9 transfer was all that was available when they mastered the blu-ray, but now there is a HD 2.35:1 transfer to work with, they should do the job properly and offer replacements - or at the very least re-release the film in its correct aspect ratio.
Blu-ray is supposed to be a high-end format for film enthusiasts. To release a film like this is a travesty.

Yep. Although I wonder - is it cropped or just using more of the negatives' frame? I mean this wasn't shot anamorphic.
