This review is from: Diary of a Crush 1: French Kiss (Paperback)
I have loved the Diary of a Crush series ever since I was a young teen, it was always my favourite part of J-17 magazine and I was extremely disappointed when the series was discontinued. I bought the trilogy of novels when they came out, feeling far too old to be reading them (I was either 17 or 18, I don't quite remember), however, I was hooked from the first page, completely excited to learn how Edie and Dylan got together. I've now read them so many times I lost count and laugh at the same parts over and over again.
I read a lot of teen novels and I can say that Sarra Manning's are the most exciting. The voice of her narrator is always defined and doesn't rely on stereotypes. Her characters are diverse and original, their personalities having a strong influence on their relationships and the plot. Some teen novels are overly fluffy whereas others are so deep they become a chore to read, but Sarra Manning deals with issues in a intelligent way without becoming too heavy and boring readers.
If you are considering buying the Diary of a Crush trilogy for yourself or a relative or a friend, I say hit that "add to shopping basket" button pronto.
