Coward was a professional entertainer, but what stands him apart from the current crop of self congratulatory drudges is his ability to turn his hand to all forms of show business. This CD demonstrates that ability. He was both highly imaginative and a free thinker. Give one example of a current entertainer who, with genuine wit, could comment (in music) on British views and issues without slavishly falling into the rigid political doctrine that is all pervasive, exemplified by the BBC ("the rats leaving the BBC" in Lets not be beastly to the Germans).
