This review is from: Sony KDL40R483 40-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p Television with Freeview - Black (discontinued by manufacturer) (Electronics)
The picture is simply amazing. Crisp, detailed and captures the colours perfectly. The set itself, is thin and compact. I sat on the couch and couldn't believe how poor the prior set had been in comparison. Samsung UE32F5000 32-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD LED TV
I wasn't aware that many Freeview channels broadcast in HD. And for free. This little add on has made me question whether I continue subscribing to Virginmedia (especially as I hate sports) so technically, and this is what I told my wife to justify the purchase, technically it's a potential money saver.
Yes, moneysaver. I said it twice but my wife still wasn't convinced.
CONNECTING WITH TABLETS/PHONES
Not sure that this is the KILLER feature. I did use it. I thought it was really good. But it's not something that I think most people would regularly use.
It's not a cinema experience but it's not a cinema experience price.
Special mention should be made of the sound. It is really really good. Not too base-ey, not too tin-ey. Sony have got this right.
Good price, looks good, and superb quality. Yes.

Have you got an gaming devices connected to this TV? If so, what is the response time like? Is there any motion blur when playing fast paced games? Is there any noticeable vertical banding on this set? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review.
I'm afraid I haven't any gaming devices.
(I did have an atari and a playstation one once)
Perhaps if you post a question someone else may know.

I have a PS4 connected to this TV via HDMI and there is no motion blur - Very smooth gameplay and this TV has a decent refresh rate of 100Mhz.

Same conclusions here; Samsung products are a triumph of hype of substance, but this Sony is just an all round properly good TV.

A year on and it''s still THE best TV I've ever purchased.
Picture is perfect.
I have never changed the sound settings until today. It doesn't really change much to be honest.
It's lucky I'm happy with the existing setup.
