THE best season,
This review is from: One Tree Hill - Season 5 [DVD] (DVD)
In many ways, the best season of One Tree Hill.
This season sees the five principal characters as well as some others realise that the things you felt at 18 and the hopes and dreams you had are not necessarily destined to come true.
Nathan's dreams of the NBA are useless now due to an accident he sustained on the pinnacle of success. He's disenchanted, in a wheelchair, and maintains that he has nothing.
His wife Haley has no music in her future, quite literally, she is doing something she can potentially enjoy but lives in the cold atmosphere of her husband's Nathan inability to be want to recover.
Lucas has written his novel, is no longer half of 'Leyton', and has lost the ability to find inspiration in what he had.
The events of the season are triggered by the decision of the hugely successful at fashion, yet terribly lonely, Brooke Davis, and her best friend, the struggling at the music industry, Peyton Sawyer that they need to return to Tree Hill to remember and re-ignite that spark.
This season really is about that - the need to re-ignite the spark. It does end happily, I think, with all of them finding it in some way or another; not completing their dreams yet but discovering the means to if they try.
I loved the time gap and the message behind it; this is quality One Tree Hill at its best.
