3.0 out of 5 stars what happened?, 20 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: BioShock Infinite (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Oh my.....what happened?
Bio shock 1 was awesome and bio 2 was good but not quite epic like number 1.Rapture worked so well as it was dark and moody and eerie. The plasmids seemed to compliment your gun play in a sort of a one two affair...it just worked. The guns upgraded physically when you tooled them up i.e they changed as you developed. All these elements just worked and made you feel like you were being swept away with the other misfits of rapture. The graphics and sound and character development left you wanting more as you ventured deeper and the big daddy and little sister fights took planning and initiative. On to infinite and we have more awesome enviroments to explore, more characters to befriend or shoot and the story climaxes to the really rather good ending which will leave you scratching your head and pondering what was that all about?
So why 3 stars? ok in no particular order and this is not to say i didnt enjoy the game but i was left disappointed...hell i played colonial marines more than this which had the whoop factor...i will explain. Aliens CM was a poor game but getting your hands on a pulse rifle is epic ok? so plasmids or in the case of infinite here we have vigors which are just bla....doesnt compliment the game play so most of the time i just stuck to a semi auto rifle ...tolled it up and off i went. The guns dont upgrade physically anymore either so that annoyed me.
ok look... Entering dunwall in dishonored i was immediately shaken by the enviroments and gameplay and how i could negotiate around the enviroment and how i felt while doing it....good. In Colombia i thought that it looked nice and pretty but i felt led by the hand and if you pushed up on the d pad a nice guide tells you where to go....i just felt like the gameplay here was cheaper. The skyhooks were ok but all they really are is a way for the story to say this bits done and this is how you get to the next bit. The boss fights are NO challenge...infact there was only one point in the game that i had a minor problem with and it wasnt the end game fight and involved a dead women and a lot of mortar firing baddies lol. I literally booted the game up...played it for 15 minutes and felt nothing. Ive talked about Dishonored before and actually feel it is a better game with its steam punk enviroment and powers that work with your guns. Plucking ammo out of the sky as you stop time and assassinating the foe. Infact when i got one vigor in infinite i thought of dishonored so much i booted it up and had a blast with the rats lol.
In conclusion and there are other things i was disappointed with here but and i cannot stress this enough...i did like it....only like but that was ok for me. Its not bio 2 and its no where near as good as 1.My advice is get it before you play dishonored or ir youve already been to dunwall dont bother with Colombia......the sky city sucks a bit.
