The Jacket-Copy Is The Story,
This review is from: The Silent Wife (Paperback)
For once, I had high hopes for a modern bestseller, mostly because of the reviews and endorsements from other top writers. I might have to rethink Tess Gerritsen a little, as 'The Silent Wife' is a huge disappointment.
For one thing, the blurb on the back cover gives away the whole thing. It's supposed to be about a woman who kills her husband in cold blood. And it is. But that's just about it. There are no twists or turns, no character development. The only decent thing about it is the prose, which ushers forth complex psychological detail. Frankly, that level of insight is wasted in a loose, baggy novel such as this. Read something by Karin Slaughter instead.
