Dutch grace and Power,
This review is from: Texino (Audio CD)Just seen these guys play at the Sowerby Bridge (where?) music fest today....blew me away, so I bought the Cd from them.
Quite heavy at times, bluesey from time to time and have a garage feel overall. The band name deriving from Beefhearts song 'Tarotplane'. The band hail from Holland and are seemingly moderately popular over there.
Very tight live, which doesn't come across quite as well on the Cd, nevertheless the harder edged tracks are well in your face and competently played. They throw in the odd vignette, almost by way of saying 'look we can do this too', moments of raw hoedown blues, bits of bluegrass, all very well done.
Frontman, Pieter Holkenborg, has a great voice and boy can he yell when he needs to....lovely synchopation between drums and bass at times, which gives the songs some added variety with pauses followed by spurts of intense energy and passion. They are quite a slick outfit and should (but probably wont) get a wider audience over here.
