she looks so innocent, but...,

This review is from: Celia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
When I saw this movie in the cinema years ago, I was well pleased. Here was a young, sweetlooking girl doing mischief like all other children, but at the end of the film you wonder whether she really is that innocent after all.
Celia lives in Australia in a time (the fifties) where rabbits are becoming a pest and the hunt for them has begun. Simultaneously the hunt for the communists is getting worse day by day. Like Celia's father who feels threathened by their communist neighbours, Celia feels threathened by the law who wants to take away her pet rabbit. And on top of this all she is afraid of the monsters from the book she got from her teacher. Monsters, the law, they all become one big blur in which Celia does not only take horrific action, but seems to like it as well...
Don't get me wrong, this is not horror, but it is a fairytale going sour.
The movie gets 4 stars, but I take one star off because of the bad sound.
