Failure - the third star for behind-the-scenes,
This review is from: Sticky and Sweet: Live [CD & DVD] (Audio CD)
Don't get me wrong. I am a M-donna fan. I have been for 22 years. But watching this dvd I kept asking myself - wth????
First and foremost is the concert live or playback? The sound is so polished that you have a feeling that you listen to pre-recorded songs, not live tracks. My opinion is shared by my friend, with whom I watched the concert.
Of course, during such tunes as "Like a virgin" (quite moving moment) or "You must love me/Don't cry for me..." she sings live, but during other songs everybody will doubt.
She jumps, she runs, she makes a lot of commotion, but her voice doesn't tremble. It is visible the most in the closing song. If you look closely, you can see her taking a breath one moment, when in fact you can hear her singing.
So...Judge for yourself, but I miss old Madonna, singing not clean here and there...
The choice of songs. Not bad. What I like in Madonna concerts is the constant reinvention. The versions she plays are different to those known from cd-s.
Quality of picture...Whoever edited this concert, should be punished severly. After first 40 minutes my eyes were so tired, that we had to take a break. Where are the times of Confessions tour where I couldn't stop watching the dvd, because it was soooo luring ;(
As I mentioned in the title, I give the third star for the short documentary. It is quite interesting to see all the things that happen behind the "close door":)
In general, I regret a bit purchasing this dvd. I expected some more...live...

Yes, I agree, most of this show is not the original live vocals, shame! We all know Madonna singing live can be a bit hit and miss but this soundrack is not Madonna 'LIVE' Also hate the song selections on the CD, like with IGTTYAS and Confessions Tour CDs. The best tracks are missed out. I always think Madonna includes too many songs from her most recent album in the tours.
