This review is from: Cuisinart ICE40BCU Ice Cream Maker Duo (Kitchen & Home)Being an ice cream lover I am completely happy with this product. So far I have only used the one bowl option, mainly because I'm still experimenting. I started with a basic recipe, just cream, milk, sugar and vanilla extract. The result was excellent. The machine itself obviously makes a noise but it's only for 20 minutes or so. I haven't made my own custard yet but have experimented with ready made chilled custards including chocolate custard. I've also made the basic recipe and added chopped maltesers. My next mission is to create a ripple ice cream with rasperry sauce. The ice cream from one bowl fits a 1 litre ice cream container perfectly. I've bought some long life double cream and cans of condensed milk so that I can make ice cream on the spur of the moment. I'd love to hear from someone who has made their own basic custard sauce and how it turns out. This will probably be the most used kitchen gadget I have ever bought! One thing - the ice cream melts very quickly once out of the freezer so not possible to take it to friends and family. In fact I'm thinking of buying a freezer box which works of the cigarette lighter in the car. I thoroughly recommend this ice cream maker. Simple to set up and use and it does the job perfectly. The two-bowl set up is an added bonus - either to make a double lot of the same ice cream or to make two different ones at the same time.

Sue, can I ask where do you get your recipes from, any recommended books you bought with your machine?
Also, how long is the guarantee that comes with it as I'm interested in purchasing this ice cream maker?

The machine is guaranteed for five years The book I bought is "Ice Cream Made Easy" by Annette Yates. ISBN No: 978-0-7160-2226-8. It's a small paperback but gives loads of useful basic info. Also loads of recipes on the web. Good luck!!!

Cow Girl says:
I am looking to replace my existing model and have been disappointed at the mixing ability of one I've tried - does this keep mixing the ice cream well (the one I tried gave up when the ice cream became more solid at the top of the mixture and it would have been impossible to add choc drops or fruit towards the end? I look the lid off and it wouldn't restart after! Any comments appreciated!

Hi there - I've never had a problem with the mixing, it's always very even. Also easy to add ingredients at the end. It's the best kitchen gadget I've ever bought. One bowl exactly fits a 1 litre tub. The only thing I would say, and it's the same regardless of the make of machine - make it for the day that you want to eat it as it goes hard quite quickly. Hope you get the right machine.
