Something for the littlest room,
This review is from: 1000 Ultimate Experiences (Lonely Planet 1000 Ultimate Experiences) (Paperback)
This book is part of the 'window sill library' in our downstairs privy. Glossy and full of exotic places, I ocassionally look at it whilst on my adventures on the throne.
Having accumulated several Lonely Planet titles over the years I've now come to the conclusion I'm not part of their target market, and unless and until I start travelling more widely I won't be getting any more, as they seem like so much soft-porn for Bear Grylls wannabes.
By the way, as you may note, this is really no criticism of the book itself, which is Choc-full of beautiful and excitingly interesting potential destinations. I just suggest that perhaps you be sure you're the rugged outdoorsy travelling type, with the recquisite travelling dough in your pocket, before investing. Otherwise - albeit such books do make decent coffee table distractions - it's all a bit Sunday-supplement.
