By far the best nursery rhymes I've heard,
This review is from: The Nursery Rhyme Collection - 33 Musicians Create A Nursery Rhymes Masterpiece [2 CD's] (Audio CD)
I'm not one to write reviews (although I do read them very often). This CD is so exceptionally good though that I've decided to write my first one ever.
I got this CD for my 6 month old son for christmas and since then (it's April now) it's hardly been removed from the CD player. I'm a keen musician myself and so I was looking for a good quality recording of nursery rhymes really for myself as a reminder of the tunes and words so that I could re-learn them and sing them to him with the guitar. I went through quite a few other offerings before I encountered this one and was very disappointed with the general quality of everything I heard. Hearing this collection was like an epiphany! The richness of the production and the musical performances draws you in until you actually sometimes forget that you're listening to music for small children. The arrangements are reminiscent of classic pop hits and sometimes its quite easy to spot a borrowed riff or sound. Each track has its own musical identity and like any classic album can stand to be played over and over without boredom or fatigue setting in. I usually put it on at least a couple of times a week and each time my son and I have great fun while it plays.
My one regret about this CD is that I managed to lose the case containing the 2nd CD on Christmas day. It must have accidentally got thrown out with the wrapping paper. I did listen to the 2nd CD once before I lost it though and remember it being just as good as the first. I also remember reading the sleeve notes and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was produced in Nottingham which is the place I'm from.
I highly recommend this CD and congratulate the producers and musicians who made it.

Mrs. C Johnson says:
My son in Canada wants a CD of nursery rhymes with an English accent for his young daughter. I see that one of the tracks has a Yorkshire accent which is great, so can I assume that the other tracks are also English accents?

Mr. Ian J. Watts says:
Yes nearly all the musicians are UK based and all the singers are UK born and bred.
