Mario in HD is something everybody needs to experience. This game is crisp, beautiful and vibrant in colour and graphics. Gameplay is divided into challenge type mini games that include speed runs (very fun - and I find helps improve your gameplay ability) and the regular story mode. It's worth noting that even after all these years, and using the same foes Nintendo continues to provide unique level design. The real beauty of this game (and those before it) is the level of difficulty. It walks a fine line between being easy for a beginner who takes their time, and being quite difficulty for a veteran who wants to get through levels very quickly and with all coins/not being hit. Simply brilliant game.

My son is amazing at all things Mario, wipes the floor with everyone no matter how good they think they are and he's only 9, but even I noted that this game is probably the easiest one of the lot, I can manage to keep up a bit more haha.

J. D. Matthews says:
...wait till you get to the later levels - super hard, I've had to return to the earlier stages to build up lives, haven't had to do that since Super Mario World on the SNES! I've played all the `New' Super Mario games and this is by far the most difficult.

auspicious, this is definitely not the easiest, its the hardest from all the 2D marios since the SNES/Gameboys. Even I, a veteran Mario player, cant pass all the challenges, and still havent found all the golden stars. If youre just running through the game without finding all the stars then the game would be very easy. Unlike many people, I do not check videos on youtube showing where the stars are, either I do it myself or I dont.
At Mathews, lifes are so easy to get here, I managed to get above 50 lives half way through the game, the difficulty is only to find all the golden stars and secret passages. Bosses are very easy also.
The hardest thing to do is pass all challenges, some easy ones, as in jump on top of 40 goombas without touching the floor, or finish one entire level without touching the floor, I cant even imagine the hard ones.

Is this a good game to play in single mode only? Some reviews say it's a co op game only really
