1.0 out of 5 stars Lot of hype over nothing, 14 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: X Plane 10 Global - 64 Bit (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
I have used Microsoft FSX Acceleration for years and bought X PLane 10 as I was led to believe, with all the hype, that it was the way forward in flight sims. It is not.

I have a 64 bit Windows 7 operating system, with 8 core @ 4Ghz processor. 8Gb of RAM and a NVIDIA FeForce GTX 770 graphics card which has 2Gb of VRAM. So I am able to operate the game at the top end. But even then the graphics are poor compared to FSX.

I also read that the flying characteristics are better than that in FSX. Rubbish!!. The aircraft models are on the whole poor even the add ons. And very few of them have a virtual cockpit. Save your money. If you have a good computer I would strongly recommend FSX Acceleration.

You can't honestly say characteristics are not better in X Plane than in FSX, the FSX is just a toy and so easy to control. X plane actually makes you fly the aircraft, coming from experience in real world flying.

The graphics may be worse, but that's because FSX is a game whereas XP focuses on the experience and realism of the aircraft and its behaviour. And a 3D virtual cockpit is also a characteristic of a game rather than a simulator, and is not what the "realism" refers to.

Alleged "realism" is always used as a universal excuse for the many shortfalls xplane has, but sadly, "coming from experience in real world flying", it's just a myth.

This statement pretty much disqualifies you, it is wrong on so many levels. Against the realism FSX users get with e.g. PMDGs 777 / 737NG and many other greatly engineered planes, xplane will always remain a toy (and a boring looking one) ;)
