This review is from: Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition (Hardcover)
With memories of Martin Gardiner's entertaining editorial comments in Scientific American I have been looking for this book on and off for some time. This is a well produced large volume combining both Alice books and annotations. What I realise is missing is some of the additional comments by readers of Scientific American discussed in Gardiner's editorials. For example, sadly missed is the theory that the curve described by the mouse's tale, as formatted in most editions of Alice, is a damped curve. My faulty memory recalls it as a damped exponential curve but another look suggests an exponentially damped sine wave.
However, it is still a pleasure to have the illuminating comments in this edition.
