I have read the authors previous book The Burning - I wasn't really that convinced by it. I feel much the same about this one.
I think the storyline of this one is a bit confused - and the characters are predictable (and bland). You always have this feeling that the author is trying to make Maeve into some kind of super-detective who is bordering on being able to single handedly solve the most complex of cases... but just makes enough mistakes to convince us she is only human.
At a couple of points later in the book, the first person changes to Rob. I quite liked that.. I wonder why it only happens so late in the story?
All in all, an ok read. That said... I would probably read the next one.
