Excellent solo album,
This review is from: Destination Anywhere (Audio CD)
'Destination Anywhere' is Jon Bon Jovi's first (and so far only) solo album, and a refreshing change from the music of Bon Jovi (of which I'm a big fan). As much as love the majority of the band's albums, I really don't think that this album needed any hard rock songs that one would usually associate with Bon Jovi.
The record opens with the very catchy 'Queen Of New Orleans' and finishes with the slow ballad 'Cold Cold Heart'. I particularly enjoy the title track, 'Ugly', 'Every Word Was A Piece Of My Heart' and 'August 7, 4:15', which was inspired by the death of the daughter of Bon Jovi's tour manager at the time.
There are still a few tracks on 'Destination Anywhere' of lesser quality but on the strength of all the good, well written tunes, I wish that Jon had released more solo albums (hopefully he might still record another one in the future).
