This review is from: The Colour of Milk (Hardcover)
This was a surprisingly good read after an initial concern of its somewhat unusual blurb on the back. I wasn't sure if it was for an adult or a child at first. It took about a third of the book to be able to fluently read the non-capitalised speech, but is such a great story that it was well worth the effort. A small and lovely to hold book, and a captivating storyline. I have not read a book written in this style before, and just loved the main character alongside all of the others, all very different and believable. I would definitely recommend 'The Colour of Milk' to anyone wishing to know more about rural life in the 1830's and who doesn't like their books to be too long! (Only 170 pages, readable within one or two days). Will be looking out for more from this author in the future.
