This review is from: Watercolour Problems and Solutions: A Trouble-shooting Handbook (Hardcover)This book of 127 pages is packed full of information. Ms.Friend is an excellent teacher. She covers eight themes, 1.Skies and Water, 2.Trees and Foilage, 3.Flowers, 4.Fruit and Vegitables, 5.Animals, 6.Still lifes in the Landscape, 7.Still life materials and 8.Buildings. Under each of these topics she shows paintings which illustrate typical beginners faults, discusses these faults and shows in pencil how to deal with them, then shows how to overcome the problems in paint. It is a book that goes way deeper than the step-by-step books that show you a scene and tells you how to paint that scene, this book shows you how to figure out and solve painting problems for any topic you may choose to paint for yourself. As a person who regularily produces the 'before' pictures and not being able to figure out where I was going wrong I am thrilled with the information in the book and have even managed to produce some pictures that look like the 'after' pictures. I am also a big fan of her other extremely helpful book "Drawing Problems and Solutions".
