This review is from: Small Parts Isolated And Destr (Audio CD)
I finally got around to re-buying this recently, mainly due to the crappy mastering on the original Alternative Tentacles CD. Have to say this is way better- the production still isn't quite up to the standard of their subsequent albums but at least now you can hear it!
As for the music itself, I almost wish they'd split up the two releases compiled here. Reason being that Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed is a pretty tough listen on it's own in many places. It's a great album and classic Nomeansno, but..... enough. I can't think of any other albums I feel that way about. Repeat listens are a must as it's a grower and takes time to make sense once past the catchy 'Dark Ages'.
The tracks from The Day Everything Became Nothing range from pretty decent to downright irritating. In short, it's not a particularly strong release and does more to detract from the main album than anything else.
That said, this is still well worth a buy even if you own the original. Don't think I'll be bothering with the other reissues though as I was always happy with the sound quality on them.
