Cheap... but you get what you pay for...,
This review is from: Olympus E-450 Digital SLR Camera (14-42mm Lens Kit) (discontinued by manufacturer) (Electronics)
I've stuck with this camera for a year now. I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, in my experience, it really doesn't perform.
Take a look at any photography forum for owners of this camera and you'll come across a repeated theme: 'is there a decent, fast prime lense for this camera?' The reason for this is that the camera has no image stabilisation and is generally sold with a zoom lense; a package that produces poor image quality in anything but strong daylight. There are a few fast 4/3 lenses on the market, but their price is disproportionately high compared to the cost of this camera.
The camera is slow to focus and, in lieu of a focus assist lamp, strobes the built-in flash to gain focus in low light conditions. Turn the strobe off and the camera will not focus... leave it on and you blind your subject. The manual focus system is also very poor.
The E-450 only makes sense as a cheap, go-anywhere camera... a DSLR for beginners to learn on that you wont care if it gets lost, stolen, or broken... but then, If you are keen to learn photography, you'll soon become frustrated with it's limitations.
