Fun with the birdies for little ones,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This disc is soc much fun. It contains five stories about a group of young birds who get together to sing, dance, and learn on the junction of Third and Bird Streets. The television series is very succesful, and is aimed at an audience of between 3-7 years of age. I wondered how well this would transfer to audio, as the visuals seem so important, but actually, in the five tales selected here, they work pretty well in this medium. The voices of the characters are distinctive (if a little bit too estuary English for my liking) and can clearly be identified by young children. The stories are supported throughout by jolly, sing-along songs, sung by the characters and played by a jazz quintet. These use interesting harmonies, minor keys and rhythms, so the children are not patronised, this is fairly sophisticated music for children, and they'll love it.
The stories also teach social interaction, but this is perhaps secondary to the disc's entertainment value. My one criticism is the unnecessary use of the expression "Fall on my bum" which seems so out of place here on a Children's BBC product. Otherwise, this is a great companion for long car journeys!
