A little raw, but very good,

First, yes, it's true, the editing is poor if indeed anyone other than a freebie auto spell checker did any.
The story is however, once you get around the glitches, rather good and the characters are not bad. I wouldn't say multi-dimensional but the potential is there and having ready the next two in the series, I really quite like it and it does pick up. It's certainly not Gemmell or Feist, but like a film starring Matt Damon or Bruce Willis, it's entertaining and just works.
This book was quite dark, more than I imagined, but also has elements of humour and the usual smattering of unlikely sexual tension.
If you can't get passed the poor editing, as some comments seem to suggest, I'd probably just go for picture pop up books if I were you. Yes, it's irritating, but seriously, you don't need a thesaurus and dictionary with you, it's not that bad.
