Ultimate Mortal Kombat,
This review is from: Ultimate Mortal Kombat (Nintendo DS) (Video Game)
For fans of fighting games UMK is one of the best. A very faithful port of the original Mortal Kombat 3 with all of the original characters, arenas, soundtrack and fatalities, this is one of the DS's best games. Anything that has been altered has been an improvement, such as one of the screens showing the button combinations for special moves, fatalities, babalities and animalities, meaning you don't have to look for them online or spend time finding them out by guessing.
The plot is also unchanged, centering around the emperor of Outworld Shao Kahn's invasion of earth. You must choose one of 22 characters (3 of which need to be unlocked) and battle your way through a series of opponents before you confront the emperor himself.
The game has plenty of unlockable content to keep you playing and every character has their own story and ending when you complete the game. However, as much as I enjoyed this game it has a big problem with it's difficulty in as much as it is very hard to beat it without practice and patience and the combo systems that your opponents can use can be quite hard to use.
That being said I would still recommend this game to fans of the series, fighting games, retro gamers or anyone who enjoys some old fashioned violence and simulated gore.
