Charming account of a cabbies life.,
This review is from: A London Cabbie's Year (Kindle Edition)
The author Mick Rose is an extremely likeable character who has been a London Cabbie for the best part of his life. Mick is an able writer and brings his workplace to life. The book is a month by month account of his taxi work year and is full of anecdotes and reminiscences. London taxi drivers are a special breed and there is no other taxi service in the world like them. It is the dedication and professionalism that singles them out. As for the book, it is very enjoyable. It doesn't tax the brain as Mick makes his points without needing to have a PhD. His prose is funny and I can visualise the situations he recounts and being a fellow cabbie like Mick I know there is no bull***t. He comes from a dynasty of cabbies; his cousins also being involved in the London taxi trade.
If you want to know what goes on in the brain of a London Cabbie (assuming he has one), then treat yourself to a read of this book. You really will not be disappointed.
