A great all round book for baby knits,
This review is from: The Ultimate Book of Baby Knits (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)This is a really attractive book that gives you 50 of Debbie Bliss's favourite baby knitting projects picked from her three most recent books: Simply Baby; Essential Baby and Blankets, Bears and Bootees. There a range of projects from cardigans and bootees to blankets and teddy bears and everything in between. Each of the projects are practical yet special and all would be a real delight to knit for your own child or to give as a present.
At the start of the book is a fairly comprehensive section on the fundamentals of knitting which is great if you're a beginner or can easily be skipped if you're more advanced.
Each project has at least one picture that shows off the finished project. These pictures are nicely done, a great addition to the book and are cute as a button, too! There are details of each project including finished size, tension, materials required and all the instructions you need to knit and assemble your chosen item.
With each project a type of Debbie Bliss wool is recommended. I have found this much more expensive than other wools which is a little off putting when thinking about starting a new project. However, at the beginning of the book there is a section which explains the properties of all the Debbie Bliss wool including weight and yardage of each ball meaning you would be able to substitute wool for any pattern in the book.
If you've got a new baby on the way or are knitting for someone who does then this is a great book and one I would recommend. It doesn't have anything unusual or extraordinary within its pages and that's part of its charm. This would be the perfect book for everything you need to knit for a new baby. 4 stars.
