What it's really like...,
This review is from: Rev - Series 1 [DVD] (DVD)This is an excellent series, very well written and with thorough research into the world of the Church of England vicar. Whether you are involved in the Church or not, I think we can all identify with playing the nice guy and trying to please everyone, usually unsuccessfully. We can all identify with the self doubt.
Rev made me laugh and cry. As a vicar's wife I have seen pretty much everything that happens in this series. I think that is what impressed me the most. I love the Vicar of Dibley and it has it's poignant moments, but this is so much more reflective of the real thing.
The most moving part of the whole series was the end of the last episode - here I am flawed and doubtful and yet I do what I'm called to do.
I can't recommend this series enough. It's not all about religion and it goes some way to dispel the myth of pointless insipid vicars like those you see on other TV programmes. And for those of us who love the Thorn Birds there is that dashing Archdemon, sorry, Archdeacon!!
Funny and moving, I hope there will be another series.

Couldn't agree more .....as another vicar's wife! Watching the series with my husband was a case of alternating laughter and cringes as we recognised elements of our own lives. A must for viewing by people who put vicars on pedestals and refuse to acknowledge them as real people who mess up just the same as others!
