An easy 5 Stars for this impressive performer.,
This review is from: Pioneer AVIC-310BT Multimedia Station Navigation Removable Face (Electronics)
This superb Sat/Nav was provided as standard equipment on my brandnew Smart CDi diesel and right from the word go it has really impressed me with it's simplicity of use and incredible performance.
My friend who accompanied me on my journey to Stockton on Tees to collect my new car is electronically minded having served a lengthy period on senior management at Rolls Royce aero engines.
He was having the unit doing things that simply stunned me.
The iceing on the cake was when we were on the M6 motorway approaching Manchester with four lanes to choose from to gain our exit.
Up came on the screen a picture of all four lanes with warnings indicating the ones not to take and the clearly marked lane that we needed for our journey.
His car is a Porche Boxter S with a excellent and far more expensive system installed but not even he had seen such clearly marked insructions with a count down indicator to show when one was approaching the junction and when it had passed.
The ladies voice telling you all the directions is in a very clear an positive voice with all directions very precise and accurate.
Another superb aspect of the display is it's clarity and ease of use when glancing at it from your driving seat even in very strong sunlight.
You donot have to look twice everything is beautifully set out.
The sound from the radio especially Classic Fm was beautifully detailed and clear, a real pleasure to listen to.
To finish it off every European country including Poland and other far away places are already downloaded onto the internal memory.
My friend is off to Porta Polenca in Spain in July and according to this Sat/Nav it will take 28hrs 16minutes from home to get there.
You can remove the screen and place it in the little leather wallet provided so it doesnot attract prying eyes.
All the Bluetooth,I Pod facilities are there aswell as is a USB lead to connect to the internet to download software.
Until you have actually seen this excellent system in operation you cannot really comprehend just how user friendly it is.
£500 or less if you shop around may appear quite a lot but this is a top quality system that provides full European coverage and so much more.
It's certainly not a cheap unit to purchase new but the build quality is trully excellent and once it is installed it looks a top quality unit.
I purchased a must have Folix LCD screen cover made in Germany and made especially for this Pioneer unit and is a perfect fit.
It only costs around £5 and is a Godsend because touching the delicate screen continually you are bound to scratch it or leave difficult to remove marks.
It's a shame Pioneer didnot throw one in as standard because it also cuts down the glare from the sun even further and if you look through all my reviews i give it a mention.
I before taking delivery of my new car was not really into Sat/navs relieing on the trust AA atlas, but on finding just how user friendly this Pioneer system is, i think i have just changed my mind BIG TIME.
