Chilling & Atmospheric Audio Adventure,
This review is from: Spaceport Fear (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
2xCD of a four episode adventure, Running time 120 minutes, Trailer, Music, 14 minutes of behind the scenes interviews.
1)The Doctor tells Mel he once kept a Robot dog in the Tardis as a companion for years.
2)Ronald Pickup (Elder Bones) featured in the First Doctor Tv adventure The Reign Of Terror & also features in another Big Finish audio Doctor Who Time Work's as Kestorian.
Tantane Spaceport, The two classes Business & Economy have been in a war for over 400 years.
At Tantane Spaceport passengers may check in but no passenger's ever checkout.
The Sixth Doctor & Mel arrive in the Tardis on Tantane spaceport were they investigate what is going on inside this vast seemingly abandoned Spaceport.
Yet unknown to the Doctor & Mel there is a creature stalking the corridors with a taste for flesh, The Wailer is coming & senses a taste of fresh meat The Doctor & Mel's flesh!.
Bit of a mystery this one is.
I liked the story's premise & episode 1 sets up a great adventure with a great cliffhanger that Doctor Who does so well.
Yet the episodes that follow don't live up to the premise of the opening episode which I felt were a bit too much talky in places & needed a tighter pacing here & there.
This is not to say Spaceport Fear written by William Gallagher is a poor audio adventure not by any means I just thought it promised something that it didn't quite deliver.
Colin Baker & Bonnie Langford do well in there main roles of the Doctor & Mel whom is given a more fully rounded character on audio at Big Finish than she was allowed to portray on Tv.
Ronald Pickup is also very good in his role as Elder Bones.
This story may require a few listens to appreciate it's merits but I felt maybe it needed less talking & more nail biting drama but as ever Big Finish have released another high quality production of there highest standards.
The weakest play out of the 2013 Sixth Doctor trilogy but still a decent adventure that maybe worth a listen.
