Third rate dross,
This review is from: The Ice Princess (Patrick Hedstrom and Erica Falck, Book 1) (Paperback)Having enjoyed so much top class Scandinavian crime fiction in the last few years - Mankell, Nesbo, Nesser, Fossum, Indridasson- I picked up my first Camilla Lackberg with high hopes. What a disappointment!!
The plot was not actually too bad but the quality of the writing, and the appalling translation, made this a pld form start to finish. Lackberg leave nothing to the reader's imagination. The is nothing implicit in her writing. Everything is spelled out two or three times just in case dull-witted readers cannot figure anything outt for themselves. Yes, there is a golden seam of contemporary Scandinavian crime fiction, but the Ice Princess is very definitely not part of it. There are so many better writers for lovers of the genre to enjoy that reading this represents a waste of time.
I resent every minute I spent reading it. Mea culpa!
