This review is from: The First Five Pages: A Writer's Guide to Staying Out of the Rejection Pile (Paperback)
This is not the sort of book any aspiring writer should read on an overcast morning in February.I bought it because the title is appealing and because I had read the many positive reviews it has received. I read it with an increasing sense of hopelessness.
Its starting point is that an editor will be looking for a reason, almost any reason, to reject your book and the author drives this message home through chapter after chapter. Yes it contains advice on how to attempt to change an editor's mindset but it is limited and unoriginal. I agree with those reviewers who recommend looking to other books for the help that this one suggests it can offer.
