Lost in Hildurness...,

This review is from: Mount A (Audio CD)
This is the first solo album from Hildur Gušnadóttir, the Icelandic cellist, rereleased and remastered, having been originally issued as by 'Lost in Hildurness' in 2006. It foreshadows her second, 'Without sinking' with the same hypnotic layered cello, but perhaps slightly less assured. Still a wonderful album, the tracks seem to end more abruptly than those on her second, which conclude more maturely. It is the same soundworld, maybe a little melancholic but embracing and absorbing. If I had to recommend just one of her 3 solo albums it would be 'Without sinking' although this could be familiarity - it is a steadfast favourite - but the other two (as currently available) run it close. it is music to lose yourself in, to forget time and just be.
