Beautiful early Shirley.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweet England (Audio CD)
An album from the late 50's with Shirley accompanying herself on banjo. Rather low on the usual murder/incest/broken heart type themes with a number of cheerful and children's songs (being older than the album, these latter stirred some vague memories!)
There are a number of vey fine tracks on this CD. I was particularly struck by three songs which were new to me - Turpin Hero, Charlie, and The Tailor and the Mouse. Why more performers haven't taken up Turpin Hero beats me.
Music from the Golden Age (warm beer, England beating Australia, God in His Heaven etc.).
