Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Unbelievable Vol.1 (Audio CD)
The front of the C.D has a list of band names (Stone Roses, Charlatans, Happy Monday's, Blur etc) that make it sound as if the album is a bona-fide indie/Brit pop compilation. But in reality it is anything but.
Sure there are some great tracks here. Happy Monday's-Step on, Soup Dragons-I'm Free, The Stone Roses-I am the Resurrection; but then for some bizarre reason you hear tracks such as MC Tunes v 808 State, The Shamen-L.S.I, Pop will eat itself- Def Con One....WHAT?
Why do these people do this? You find this a lot on compilation albums. Do they do this just for a laugh, or are they completely clueless?
At this price for a double album it is probably still worth the outlay if you are missing a lot of the classic indie numbers, but be warned, there are tracks on here that will have you exclaiming WHAT! at regular intervals.

Robert N says:
It covers a certain period in what was known as 'indie dance' and those bands you mention fell into that category I guess. Other than that, check what's on a compilation before you buy it perhaps?
I remember 1990 and all that very well, so I find the track listing on this perfectly acceptable and not at all surprising.
