Dreadful Product - again!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Vax C89-P6-B Power 6 Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen & Home)
A few weeks ago, I wrote a review supporting what a reviewer called Gareth had said. Subsequently, I contacted Vax and after several emails, they sent me a replacement vacuum cleaner. Hurrah....result! (you might think). Now, with vacuum cleaner number 2 I have deja vu. It has done EXACTLY the same as the first one, losing suction and telling me that there is a blockage (which there isn't). I am furious at having spent the money in the first place, but also at the inconvenience this has caused me. Will I contact Vax again? No...what's the point? They simply have a duff product on the market, and are clearly happy to allow their reputation to be tarnished by it. They should do the decent thing and withdraw it. I will NEVER buy a Vax product again - and advise anyone reading this to steer well clear!
Original review: I completely agree with what another reviewer, Gareth, has written. I have had this cleaner 8 weeks. Initially, I was impressed, as the suction was good and it seemed to do a good job with pet hairs. Now, however, it has lost its suction and permanently shows the blockage light, even though I have taken it apart, checked for blockages and cleaned the filters. The user's guide is totally useless! There is no troubleshooting help, with the advice on blockages being to "carefully remove the blockage". Oh really? Wish I'd thought of that! This cleaner is a complete waste of money - DON'T BUY IT!

Same here, also turns itself off rather rapidly (I assume overheating?) if I dare actually turn it up to max suction...

Goodness knows why but I still have this useless cleaner. After much investigation I have found the cause of this vacuum's woes - it's the pre-motor filter on top of the cylinder that causes this "blocking". I purchased some new filters and once again the product was fantastic. However, sadly, they get blocked very quickly and regardless of following the cleaning instructions I've found that once blocked they're basically a right-off. At £10 a pop this is proving to be a very expensive and sub-standard product. It's going to the dump. Steer clear.
