Second In Series Barely Scores,
This review is from: Broken Land, A (Roads to War) (Hardcover)
This is Ludlow's 2nd in a series following Cal Jardine as he works his was into the conflicts prior to World War Two. Jardine, an arms smuggler who helped the Ethiopians in the first book and here helps the Spanish Republicans. Battling Nazis, communists and other no-goodniks, the ubiquitous Jardine is sure to escape every scrape.
Ludlow, who worked well in the past in dealing with the Romans, needs to do a bit more homework in the 20th century. A character here in 1936 discusses Stalin's murder of Trotsky. A little problem considering the fact that Trotsky was murdered in 1940!
It looks like Jardine in heading to the Sudentenland next. I'm sure he will smuggle some guns, rescue some attractive females and try to save the world. What a shocker.
