This review is from: Sane New World: Taming the Mind (Hardcover)
What I most enjoyed about the book was the humour and honest self-reflection from Ruby Wax on her own struggle with depression. Having said that, the book left me slightly irritated. I have read far better descriptions of the application of mindfulness practices for depression by authors such as Mark Williams and Jon Teasdale and this felt like a second-hand re-hash a lot of the time. I appreciate Ruby's sincerity in writing this book but I think she got it published because her name was attached to it, rather than because it had anything new or better to add to the discussion. However for people who do not know much about this subject, maybe this could serve as an initial introduction.
