This review is from: From the Ends of the Earth: The Jews in the 20th Century (Paperback)
This excellent work should be available in schools to show just where demonisation of a people leads. Racism against jews thankfully outlawed in western countries nowadays is endemic in the middle east and asia where Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' is sold openly and the other tracts attacking jews are bestsellers.
As usual where jews are oppressed it is not long before other minorities feel the heat. Jews are the canary in the mine. And nowadays in the absence of jews it is christian communities in Iraq, in Egypt, in Pakistan and many other countries in the middle east and asia that are being persecuted and ethnically cleansed.
There are now 7 jews left in Iraq. Around a million christians have been ethnically cleansed from Iraq in the last 10 years, so the question is, how long will it be before there are 7 christians left there, in Pakistan and Indonesia?
If this book says anything, it is that racial intolerance must be fought everywhere. Hatred of Israel the falsification of its history, and demonisation of Israel that has given full equality to its arab citizens is just an extension of anti-semitism.
This updated anti-semitism can be seen in the constant demonising Israel for supposed wrongs to palestinians (as if palestinians are only victims and have not tried to destroy that state whilst committing unspeakable acts of terror against israelis in the last 60 years).
Countries that have dealt fairly with jewish people have prospered. Those that have demonised and attacked jews have on the whole not. Palestinian leaders should learn from history and seek peace and reconciliation rather than constantly try to stir up hatred and conflict with Israel and promote hatred of jews in palestiinian media and schools.
