the clothing designs are old fashioned (it's mostly hats and pillows) and all the how-to has been pulled from other publications. very disappointing and original stitch paterns? they look awfully like they came from John Allen's reference book. the info on steeking which is nerve racking territory for the newbie is scant. A much better reference in every wasy is Margaret Radcliff's "The eseential guide to colour knitting techniques" she actually shows someone cutting the steek...eeek ! Give Melissa's Mastering a total miss which is unfortunate because colour work reference books are rare.
