Andre the Virtuoso - Fantastic!,
This review is from: Forever Vienna (Audio CD)I saw Andre being interviewed on BBC Breakfast over the Christmas holiday and I couldn't wait to go out and buy his album! I have a passion for anything Strauss and I confess that The Blue Danube by Strauss is one of my all time favourite pieces and never fails to motivate me. Andre Rieu's version is just amazing, passionate and enchanting.
The whole album is gorgeous, filled with uplifting music. Even if you're not a big fan of classical, buy this album, its a CD to cure those winter blues and better than an anti-depressant! Andre you are a brilliant, well done!
PS: It comes with disc two which is a DVD of a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London - magnificent!

Andre Rieu's recording of the Love theme from Romeo and Juliet 'A Time for Us' (Rota) taken from his 'Romantic Moments' CD was chosen for The Official Athens 2004 Olympic Games Classical Album 'Harmony'.
Fans of 'Forever Vienna' might also like the sensational, beautifully packaged, 3 CD compilation 'Andre Rieu Eine Musikalische Traumereise' (an absolute bargain to be found on Amazon) which I have reviewed.
Don't miss his 'Live in Vienna', 'Schonbrunn' and 'Live in Australia World Stadium Tour' DVDs. The 'Live in Australia 2008' DVD has to be seen to be believed! You might want to know that all Andre Rieu DVDs are 'Region free' (as confirmed on his website). If you have a modern TV/player it will probably be NTSC compatible. He played for Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands 26 March. Andre Rieu appeared on Dancing on Ice 28 March playing Bolero. He appeared at the Classical Brits Awards broadcast on ITV Tuesday 18 May. Sadly Andre Rieu has had to postpone his Sept 2010 UK and Australian tours owing to illness. It seems he might be rescheduling for early next year. See his website for details. Get well soon Andre!

Are all these reviewers mad as hatters?????
There is a HUGE amount of superb classical music out there (and Stauss only just about scrapes into the 'classical' genre as far as I'm concerned) so why buy this I wonder. I bought this for my dad for Christmas as he thinks this guy is 'great' so I had a listen just out of curiosity. This is pretty 'low level' stuff - garbage really. Bit like saying you like jazz and buying a Kenny Ball or Acker Bilk CD!!! I'd rather have silence than this stuff!!!!!!!

Yes you must be mad. I am a classic music buff but think Andre is doing an ammazing job which is doing more for the classics than our blinkered music snobs
