A Blast from the Past,
This review is from: School Spanish Course (Paperback)
A old 'O' level text book which addresses the Spanish language in a good amount of depth. The Book gives a good amount of vocabulary but a reader needs to ensure some of the words and grammar are in keeping with modern usage and the different regions of the Spanish-speaking World.
The grammar aspect of the book covers the imperfect, present, present progressive and preterite tenses but without mention of the differences in usage throughout the Spanish-speaking World. More importantly, the Book looks at the usage of the present and imperfect subjunctive. Coverage of these tenses is not comprehensive in the modern 'O' and 'A' levels, which leaves a student short if they want to pursue the language to fluency.
As another reviewer remarks, it is a shame there are no answers to the questions in each Chapter of the Book. The Book would do well if updated.
I used the Book to re-acquaint myself with a language I had pursued to a high level almost a quarter of a century ago. Of great assistance.
